Guest of honour – Gabriel Byrne

The Paris GOAL Ball committee is honoured to be welcoming Gabriel Byrne to Paris for this year’s Ball. Gabriel is best known as a critically acclaimed actor and he started his acting career with Ireland's world renowned Abbey Theatre, later joining London's Royal Court Theatre and the Royal National Theatre, where he played leading roles before moving to the United States. From there he went on to star in over 35 films included; Into the West, The Usual Suspects, Miller’s Crossing and Stigmata. He has also written two screen plays and his producing credits include the Academy award nominated; In the Name of the Father.

Limited Edition Peter O’Brien Book

Entitled Workbook, it celebrates the creativity of Irish fashion designer Peter O’Brien who has had an impressive career in Paris at such notable fashion houses as Rochas, Givenchy, Chloe and The House of Dior.

It is published in Ireland by Stoney Road Press for The Tramyard Gallery, Dublin.

This collector’s item is a veritable feast of Peter’s watercolours and drawings, spanning his thirty-five year output, both as a fashion and theatre-costume designer.

He is currently playing the role of Dr. Paul Weston in the HBO drama In Treatment, a role that has attracted much acclaim, leading to both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

In 2010, the Irish Government appointed Gabriel Byrne as Cultural Ambassador for Ireland with the then Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, commenting:

“Gabriel Byrne is an internationally renowned, award-winning actor and is already well established as one of Ireland’s great ambassadors through his work in film and theatre, as well as his endeavors behind the scenes in supporting and promoting Irish artists".

The book already holds pride of place in a number of collections, including NCAD Visual library, DIT library & the American
Ireland Funds.

The GOAL Ball Paris is an ideal event for entertaining friends, staff, clients or colleagues and an excellent opportunity to combine corporate hospitality with raising much-needed funds for GOAL’s work in the developing world.
